How Many Stone Makers Have Exhibited at Every Canton Fair for 20 Straight Years? Inside WAYON's Track Record
WAYON STONE (founded 1982) is a Guangdong-based manufacturer of advanced engineered stone, operating multiple production bases with a flagship showroom and marketing center in Foshan. Annual output exceeds 3 million square metres, serving customers in over 80 countries and regions. Since its first Canton Fair appearance in 2007, WAYON has never missed a session — 20 years, 40 consecutive fairs. For overseas buyers, that record signals four verifiable capabilities: business continuity, product specification stability, international trade experience, and traceable brand credibility.
1. Growing with the Canton Fair: From 9,600 m² in 1957 to 1.55 million m² at the 140th Session
Seven decades of the Canton Fair
On 25 April 1957, the first China Export Commodities Fair opened at the Sino-Soviet Friendship Building in Guangzhou. The venue covered 18,000 m² of building space with 9,600 m² of exhibition area; 13 state-owned foreign trade corporations organised delegations, 10,900 products were displayed, 1,223 buyers from 19 countries attended, and export turnover reached US$17.54 million. Two sessions were held each year thereafter — without interruption through the hardship years, the Asian financial crisis, SARS, the global financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over seven decades, the Canton Fair has undergone four structural shifts:
• Venue relocation — from Sino-Soviet Friendship Building to Qiaoguang Road, then Jiyi Road, Liuhua Road, and finally Pazhou; exhibition area grew from 9,600 m² to today's 1.55 million m².
• Participation expansion — from 13 state-owned foreign trade corporations to production enterprises, private companies and foreign-invested enterprises.
• Phased reform — the 91st session (2002) moved from one phase to two; the 104th session (2008) expanded to three phases per session, with 1.115 million m², 55,300 booths and 22,300 exhibitors, making it the world's largest.
• From 'selling to the world' to 'buying and selling globally' — the 101st session (2007) was renamed China Import and Export Fair with the first import zone; in 2020 it moved fully online; the 130th session (2021) adopted a hybrid online-offline model.
The 140th Canton Fair opened on 15 October 2026, marking the Fair's 70th anniversary. Total exhibition area is 1.55 million m², with approximately 32,000 exhibitors and around 75,000 booths. More than 11,000 are 'specialised, refined, differentiated and innovative' enterprises or national champion manufacturers. This session introduces a China Time-Honored Brands zone and a global buyer alliance, and combines on-site exhibition with overseas live streaming.
WAYON and the Canton Fair: 20 years, 40 sessions
WAYON's story began in Yunfu in 1982 — 25 years before its first Canton Fair booth. In 2007, WAYON exhibited for the first time — the same session in which the Fair was renamed the China Import and Export Fair and launched its first import zone. The year the Canton Fair pivoted from an export window to a two-way trade platform, WAYON walked in.

Why 'never missed' deserves a separate mention
Twenty years and forty sessions mean the company has lived through SARS, the global financial crisis, the pandemic-driven digital shift, and the post-pandemic return of offline business — and has always shown up on the same international platform. The Canton Fair has changed — venues moved, phases adjusted, formats transformed — and WAYON has changed too, from contract manufacturer to brand owner, from natural stone to silica-free quartz. The two trajectories have run in parallel for 20 years.
This means its R&D, production, sampling, quoting, documentation, logistics and after-sales systems operate continuously, rather than starting and stopping with order volume. For wholesalers and contractors needing replenishment over 3, 5 or even 10 years, that continuity is itself the most valuable qualification.
2. From Natural Stone to Flexible Stone: Two Identity Upgrades in Four Decades
WAYON's forty years are not just a longer product line — they are two identity upgrades. Products moved from natural stone to advanced architectural surfacing materials; the company moved from contract manufacturer to an integrated brand of R&D, intelligent processing and manufacturing. These two lines reinforce each other, and explain why WAYON has sustained 20 years of Canton Fair investment.
Product evolution: four stages
Stage 1 · Natural Stone (Marble, Granite)
In 1982, WAYON founded the Lixin Joint Stone Plant in Yunfu — China's stone capital — starting with stone aggregate production. From 1993, it partnered with Hong Kong Jiakang Marble in Shunde Chencun for imported stone processing and trading, then established Guangzhou Lixin Stone (1995), Guangzhou Lixin Stone Crafts (1996) and Shanghai WAYON (1998), specialising in columns, mouldings and other profiled components alongside slab trading. This stage built the industry's foundational capabilities: block and slab selection judgement, profiled processing craft, project scheduling and batch delivery rhythm.
Stage 2 · Engineered Marble
In 1999, Yunfu WAYON Stone Co., Ltd. was established in the Yunfu Chucheng Development Zone, producing engineered stone. This moved WAYON from 'contract processing' to 'formula-based production' — replicable patterns, traceable batches — breaking through the unpredictability of natural stone veining and quarry supply variation. Around the same period (2000, acquiring former Jiamasi Stone), WAYON took on major domestic and international stone projects; Shanghai WAYON, with 4 CNC waterjets and 10 CNC wire saws, became the largest profiled stone processing factory in Shanghai (2001).

Stage 3 · Engineered Quartz & Terrazzo (High-Performance Decorative Stone)
In 2014, Guangdong WAYON Industrial settled in Heyuan, breaking ground on a large quartz slab production base. By this stage, WAYON's export capacity and product portfolio had matured, covering kitchen and bathroom countertops, furniture tops, wall and floor tile specifications and project customisation, serving commercial real estate, premium hotels and home brands. This session's headline products — silica-free quartz and inorganic terrazzo — are the latest result of this stage's upgrade toward occupational health and fire compliance.
Stage 4 · Silica-Free Quartz & Ultra-Thin Flexible Stone (Innovative Architectural Facing)
WAYON has made its materials thinner, lighter and bendable — enabling stone on walls, wrapped around columns, fitted to curved surfaces and compatible with renovation project substrates. At the same time, it developed silica-free quartz: while retaining quartz's original hardness, abrasion and stain resistance, the formulation contains no crystalline silica, eliminating crystalline silica dust at the source for safer processing.
This stage's innovation no longer improves slab performance alone — it simultaneously addresses construction method, building load, fabricator occupational health and tightening import compliance thresholds, optimising four pain points at once: transport cost, construction period, structural weight and market access.

This table is the key to understanding '20 years, 40 sessions'. A contract manufacturer exhibits to win orders; when orders dry up, the exhibition stops. A brand exhibits to maintain a continuously operating international client network — and the Canton Fair's twice-yearly rhythm happens to match the brand operating rhythm of annual pattern updates, new-project sampling and client review. WAYON's 20-year attendance is essentially evidence that its identity has shifted from 'order-taker' to 'brand owner'.
- Building Long-Term International Trade Partnerships Through the Canton Fair
WAYON's internationalisation predates the Canton Fair. In 2000, it exhibited at its first international show — Germany's Nuremberg Stone Fair; from 2003 to 2005, WAYON supplied the Algiers Airport, the Algerian Officers' and NCOs' Club and China's National Centre for the Performing Arts; in 2016, WAYON appeared at Brazil's Vitória International Stone Fair, among the first Chinese stone brands to enter the South American premium market. After joining the Canton Fair in 2007, WAYON's international client base stabilised further.
Today, WAYON products reach over 80 countries and regions. The Canton Fair's role has long shifted from 'collecting business cards' to 'maintaining long-term client relationships':
• New-customer acquisition: each session, buyers from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, South America, Australia and Africa hold initial technical and commercial discussions at the new-product booth — specifications, patterns, packaging, MOQ, lead time and certifications.
• Returning clients: appearing on the same platform for 20 years lets existing customers find WAYON at a fixed time and fixed zone, completing annual pattern updates, new-project sampling and order review.
• Factory verification: after on-site discussion, overseas buyers can visit the Heyuan and Yunfu production bases and the Foshan showroom — forming a stable chain of 'showroom screening → in-person experience → factory audit → long-term orders'.
• Online continuation: since the Fair moved online in 2020, WAYON has used online display and livestreaming, so enquiries and follow-up continue beyond the show period.
Twenty years have produced a set of repeatedly tested international trade capabilities:
• Export documentation and compliance: familiar with certification and customs requirements across target markets; provides test reports, certificates, packing lists and certificates of origin; for Australia and other markets with engineered stone controls, supplies third-party test reports as compliance evidence.
• Packaging and loading: export-standard reinforced packaging and container loading optimisation to reduce long-distance breakage; custom marks, pallets and split-container arrangements available.
• Multilingual communication: a dedicated export team covering enquiry, sample confirmation, drawing development, production follow-up and after-sales feedback, reducing rework from communication gaps.
• Project support: shop drawings, quotations, CAD development, layout optimisation and installation guidance — not just selling slabs, but delivering materials ready to install.
• Sampling mechanism: samples shipped first, confirmed before batch production, avoiding mismatch between bulk order and expectation.
For buyers, the practical result is lower communication cost, controllable sampling cycles and predictable arrival risk — exactly what intermittent exhibitors cannot commit to.
Overseas projects: four examples, four delivery challenges
WAYON has completed over a hundred engineering projects across 80+ countries. Rather than listing them all, four examples illustrate four levels of delivery difficulty.
① Caribbean / North America — Barbados Hotel: Same pattern, four applications, zero colour difference
Using quartz pattern Borage Platinum across four applications in one hotel: vanity tops, nightstand tops, table tops and bathroom basins. Hotel projects fear colour difference more than material quality — when lobby, guest rooms and bathrooms arrive in batches, any batch-to-batch mismatch means demolition and rework. Applying one pattern across four scenarios proves that colour consistency holds across batches and applications — exactly what wholesalers needing repeated replenishment and contractors phasing construction require.
② Northern North America — Canada TAP&ARREL / Oeb Restaurant Chain: Reproducibility is harder than beauty
Chain brands demand something single-store projects do not: a pattern approved in one outlet must be stably reproduced across dozens of future locations, with every batch matching. The patterns WAYON supplied to this Canadian restaurant chain are used in exactly such continuous-replication scenarios. Serving a chain means batch consistency has passed large-scale validation — not 'this batch is good' but 'every batch is the same'.
③ Middle East / Central & Northeast Africa — Qatar Vendome Mall / Kinshasa Hilton (DRC) / Djibouti Railway Station: Public buildings set the highest bar
Shopping malls, international hotels and transport infrastructure are the three most demanding stone scenarios: high foot traffic, strict fire ratings, durability and environmental requirements, often with international supervision. WAYON's inorganic terrazzo and silica-free quartz are developed for exactly these scenarios — resin-free, non-combustible, no harmful smoke at high temperature, and silica-dust-free during processing.
④ North Africa / Maghreb — Algiers Airport (2003–2005): A complete chain run through 20 years ago
A major overseas public building project supplied by WAYON. Airport projects are among the hardest: large volume, many specifications, numerous profiled parts, phased schedule, and coordination with on-site installation. Materials that go off-spec or arrive late threaten the whole project milestone. WAYON delivered the complete chain from material selection and processing support to on-time supply — not simply selling a batch of slabs.
Beyond these, WAYON's overseas projects span Malaysia, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Maldives, Thailand, Spain, Finland, France, the UK, the USA, Tunisia and French Guiana, covering hotels, apartments, residences, commercial spaces and chain restaurants. For buyers, these four projects prove the company is not handling overseas orders for the first time. Cross-border documentation, long-distance packaging, multi-batch colour control, on-site installation guidance and replenishment — these have all been handled in real projects, repeated across hotels, chain restaurants, public buildings and transport infrastructure.

4. Four Decades of Manufacturing and Global Supply Capability
WAYON today positions itself as an advanced stone R&D, intelligent processing and integrated manufacturing brand — R&D, production, intelligent processing and brand operations within one system, rather than outsourcing processing and retaining only order-taking. This directly determines delivery certainty for overseas buyers: the formula is in-house, capacity is in-house, and quality standards are in-house.
"We make it, we show it." — WAYON's production and display network is the physical foundation of supply stability.

Technology Patents: In-House System Covering Materials, Structures, Equipment and Software
WAYON has built an independent technology system in stone and engineered quartz, with over 20 national authorised patents and software copyrights. This is not a decorative certificate list — it is the technical ledger behind every product generation developed, manufactured and iterated in-house.

① Slab structure and materials (6 items):
Decorative stone board; ceramic-inorganic stone composite board; double-layer composite stone board; high-performance stone composite board; anti-burst stone composite board; stone dry-hanging structure.
These correspond directly to buyer concerns about installation safety and structural stability: composite structures address cracking and bursting risk; dry-hanging structures address wall-installation reliability. The inorganic stone composite board is the material basis for the inorganic terrazzo line.
② Production and processing equipment (13 items):
New engineered quartz slab apparatus; quartz slab forming press; secondary feeding equipment; slab thickness calibration device; stone thicknessing machine; slab edge trimming; slab sample cutting equipment; engineered quartz online cutting; engineered quartz baking mould; quartz slab curing oven heating device; batching and mixing apparatus; new drying apparatus; polishing and levelling device.
These cover the full process: batching, mixing, feeding, pressing, thickness calibration, trimming, cutting, baking and curing, through to polishing. They explain why key equipment is self-improved and why the same pattern holds across batches — every parameter that determines consistency is in-house.
③ Equipment support and environmental (4 items):
Self-resetting over/under-voltage protector for stone equipment; clamping mechanism for stone processing equipment; wastewater collection and treatment device; cutting-fluid filtration layer.
Voltage protection and clamping mechanism support equipment stability and processing precision; wastewater collection and cutting-fluid filtration form the on-site basis for ISO 14001 environmental management, SGS audit and BV audit compliance.
④ Software and systems (3 items):
Quartz production control system; quartz decorative design software; inventory management system.
Production control supports scheduling and process parameter management; design software supports customer colour selection and spatial preview; inventory system tracks orders and stock. These three are the most direct evidence of 'intelligent processing integration'.
What this means for buyers, in three points:
• Patterns developed in-house — no reliance on externally purchased formulas; the same pattern can be reproduced years later, with controlled colour difference on replenishment.
• Process equipment self-improved — key process parameters are in-house, so batch consistency is not disrupted by equipment supplier changes.
• New products keep launching — from engineered marble to silica-free quartz, inorganic terrazzo and flexible stone, every generation extends an in-house technology route rather than following the market.

5. Headline Products This Session: Silica-Free Quartz, Inorganic Terrazzo and Flexible Stone
① Silica-Free Quartz (Zero-Silica / Non-Silica Quartz)
Engineered quartz is a mainstream decorative surfacing material. When a project has higher requirements for environmental protection and worker health, silica-free quartz (also called zero silica quartz or non-silica quartz) is the recommended choice. This formulation contains no crystalline silica, eliminating crystalline silica dust at the source — no silica dust during processing, better protecting fabricators and end users.
Traditional engineered quartz:
Formulated with premium quartz sand and powder as the main component (over 90%), combined with high-quality resin, specialised pigments and environmentally friendly binders. Formed under vacuum vibration and pressure, controlled curing and fine polishing to produce a high-density, specification-stable uniform slab. High Mohs hardness, abrasion and stain resistance (resists coffee, oil and other stubborn stains), no radioactive components, recyclable and free of harmful emissions.
Applications: kitchen countertops, vanity tops, wall and floor surfaces, furniture surfaces; serving wholesale, engineering and export markets worldwide.
Third-party test: crystalline silica below 1%
WAYON's silica-free quartz was tested by an Australian third-party laboratory using X-ray diffraction (XRD), with the conclusion that crystalline silica content is below 1%.

This is particularly critical for the Australian market: since 1 January 2025, engineered stone benchtops, panels and slabs containing ≥1% crystalline silica have been listed as prohibited imports and may be seized at the border without a warrant; below 1% they are not within the import ban scope. The test report serves as compliance evidence and can be submitted with import declaration documents.
② High-Performance Inorganic Terrazzo
Made from natural quartz-based raw materials and environmentally friendly inorganic binders, formed under high-frequency high-pressure vibration to produce large-format precast slabs for easier installation. High Mohs hardness, abrasion and scratch resistance; contains no resin binder or other organic components; non-combustible, does not deform at high temperature and does not produce harmful smoke — a safe, green building solution. A1 fire rating.
Applications: indoor and outdoor walls and floors, ideal for high-footfall public spaces such as airports, metro systems, commercial complexes, schools and hospitals — seamless flooring and wall panels.
③ Flexible Stone — A New Architectural Facing Material
This is the newest generation in WAYON's material system. It is not natural stone sliced thin, but natural stone powder reconstituted to reproduce real stone texture and feel, combined with flexible environmentally friendly polymer binders, formed through a dedicated low-temperature process and texture moulding to produce a lightweight, bendable facing sheet.
Why is it a 'new material' rather than 'thin stone'? Traditional stone's application boundary is set by weight and rigidity — it cannot bend, cannot be applied to curved surfaces, requires dry-hanging for walls, and needs additional structural load. Flexible stone changes this premise: only 2–8 mm thick, bendable, able to conform to irregular and complex surfaces, turning stone from a 'slab' into a 'facing material'. This opens applications that were previously impossible: curved column wraps, curved wall surfaces, facade renovation over existing substrates, and lightweight construction in elevator lobbies and feature walls.
Key advantages: abrasion and scratch resistance; non-toxic, non-irritating, stable indoor performance; rich textures and surface effects suiting modern, minimalist or luxury styles; lightweight construction that simplifies installation, shortens timelines and reduces labour cost.
Applications: walls, floors and irregular/complex curved surfaces; exterior facade renovation, commercial facades, boutique hotels and chain stores, elevator lobbies and feature walls. Thickness 2–8 mm.

FAQ
Q1: How long has WAYON STONE exhibited at the Canton Fair?
Since its first appearance in 2007, WAYON has exhibited for 20 consecutive years across 40 sessions without absence. In 2024, WAYON was officially recommended by the Canton Fair and held a brand showcase on the central stage, with the record noted as '18 years / 36 sessions'; the 140th session in 2026 marks 20 years / 40 sessions.
Q2: Is WAYON STONE a trader or a manufacturer?
A manufacturing enterprise, upgraded to an advanced stone R&D and intelligent-processing integrated brand. Three identity stages: early stone contract processor; mid-stage engineered stone producer and project supplier; today, integrating material R&D, multi-base coordinated capacity, intelligent processing and brand operations.
Q3: What are WAYON's main products?
Current portfolio covers nine categories: engineered quartz, silica-free quartz, high-performance inorganic terrazzo, flexible stone, natural marble, engineered marble, gem stone, cement stone and sintered stone. The evolutionary path is: natural stone (marble/granite) → engineered marble → engineered quartz/terrazzo → ultra-thin flexible stone. This session's headline lines are silica-free quartz, inorganic terrazzo and flexible stone, covering countertops, furniture tops, wall/floor slabs and project customisation.
Q4: What international certifications does WAYON hold?
Among the first manufacturers to earn both US Greenguard Gold (UL) and Greenguard indoor air quality dual certification; NSF food contact safety (ANSI 51) and EU CE safety certification; ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 quality, environmental and occupational health systems; plus SGS global audit, BV international audit and testing by the National Stone Quality Supervision and Inspection Centre.
Q5: What is silica-free quartz? How is it different from regular quartz?
Traditional engineered quartz is a mature surfacing material containing crystalline silica in its formulation. When a project has higher requirements for processing health protection, silica-free quartz (also zero silica quartz or non-silica quartz) is recommended. This product contains no crystalline silica in its formulation, avoiding crystalline silica dust at the source — no silica dust during processing, better protecting fabricators and end users — while retaining quartz's excellent hardness, abrasion and stain resistance.
Q5-1: Does WAYON's silica-free quartz have a third-party test report? What is the crystalline silica content?
Yes. WAYON's silica-free quartz was tested by an Australian local third-party laboratory using X-ray diffraction (XRD), with the conclusion that crystalline silica content is below 1%.
Q5-2: Is WAYON's silica-free quartz compliant with Australia's import ban?
Since 1 January 2025, Australia has listed engineered stone benchtops, panels and slabs containing ≥1% crystalline silica (by weight) as prohibited imports; below 1% they are outside the ban scope. WAYON's silica-free quartz has a third-party test conclusion of crystalline silica below 1%, which can support import declaration. Final acceptance is subject to the latest ABF announcement and border release decision.
Q6: What projects is inorganic terrazzo suitable for?
Suitable for seamless flooring and wall panels in high-footfall public spaces such as airports, metro systems, commercial complexes, schools and hospitals, with non-combustible performance advantages and customisable aggregate patterns. Fire rating per test report.
Q7: Where can flexible stone be used?
Applicable for exterior facade renovation, commercial facades, curved and column wraps, elevator lobbies and feature walls — scenarios requiring lightweight, bendable facing that significantly reduces transport and construction cost and shortens timelines.
Q8: What major projects has WAYON completed?
From 2003 to 2005, WAYON supplied the Algiers Airport, the Algerian Officers' and NCOs' Club and China's National Centre for the Performing Arts. In 2016, it was among the first Chinese stone brands to enter the South American premium market. Products now serve commercial real estate, premium hotels, home brands and project customers across 80+ countries and regions.
Q9: How can a buyer verify WAYON's supply stability?
Four dimensions: 20 consecutive years / 40 sessions of Canton Fair exhibition record; multiple production bases with annual output over 3 million m²; ISO triple-system certification and SGS/BV third-party audits; and post-project replenishment supported by historical pattern archiving.
Q10: Does WAYON offer OEM/ODM and pattern customisation?
Yes. Custom patterns, specifications and packaging per project; samples and colour cards available; one-stop engineering support from material R&D and supply to installation guidance. Specific MOQ and sampling lead time per latest price list.
Q11: Where can buyers find WAYON at this Canton Fair?
The 140th Canton Fair runs 15 October – 4 November 2026 in Guangzhou across three phases. WAYON exhibits in Phase 2 (23–27 October 2026), located in Area B, Hall 13.2, Booth 13.2G29-30. Featured: quartz (including silica-free quartz), terrazzo, ultra-thin flexible stone and natural marble.
